We're moving!!

We thought it would be nice to come back to our own place after the wedding. Living in a shared house was supposed to be a temporary measure after we came back from South America, but somehow we stayed in this house for almost two years! I think it was meant to be as it means that we'll start our married life in a completely new place that will be only ours. Of course, and despite everything we have to do, I couldn't resist starting looking for inspiration on decorating the new place. These are some of my Flickr favourites. I'm going for a relaxed vibe and I seem to be drawn to white, blue and yellow (of course yellow!)

Random favourite things

It still amazes me what an inspiring place the web is. After only an quick browsing of my favourite websites, I've found some very inspiring things for the weekend...

You know how much I love yellow!

I'm a bit tired with my winter wardrobe (and totally fed up with winter now!!) and can't wait for spring so I can wear pretty dresses...

Ah, my favourite girl crush has done it again... Isn't Zooey Deschanel the cutest?

We've decided to go to Santorini for our honeymoon! I can't wait! Two weeks of doing nothing but being together.... In the meantime, I've been scouring the web for pretty photos of the place:

Randomness and links

Hello people! I'm still here, even tough I haven't been posting much, and not only because I've been feeling shy! Work is absolutely crazy, and there are other things going on in my life at the moment that I'll have to tell you about (good things that are making me feel all grown up!). I don't have the energy right now, but I'll soon be back with some planned posts about my awesomeness (because you know I AM awesome), my diary wreckage and, most important of all, my first dressmaking project. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a random list of random links.

Do you want to see some dreamy photos? Go to the Daydreaming images in the Rebecca Miller's portfolio. How would you represent daydreaming?

I'm still obsessed with yellow and I've found a couple of cool things in the blogospehre lately:

A yellow room from This is glamorous. Have you noticed the little office? Want.It.

And this lovely dress from my new favourite shop, Ruche. Go to their blog for more.

I'm sure you know Kerri Smith, the author of Wreck this journal. She posted this on her blog a while ago and I really want to remember. I always resist when I'm doing something outside my comfort zone, but, of course, those things I do turn up to be great most of the time and make for fantastic memories.

Have you seen this brilliant project about little people in the streets of London? It reminds me of a cartoon I used to watch when I was a kid, The littles. Do you remember it? More on the little people blog.

This is a lovely modern love moment that I saw in Le Love sometime ago. I just think it's perfect!

My mobile phone quit as I tried to let my wife know that I was caught up in traffic and would be late for our anniversary dinner. I wrote a message on my laptop asking other motorists to call her, printed it on a portable ink jet and taped it to my rear windshield. When I finally arrived home, my wife gave me a the longest kiss ever. "I really think you love me" she said, "at least 70 people called me and told me so.

I found this poster in Naturally Nina. What can I say? My thoughts exactly.

I'm loving the Disposable Memory project. Disposable cameras are released into the world for people to take some photos, pass them on, and finally send them back to the organizers. When we were in South America last year, my boyfriend and I used to have disposable cameras competitions from time to time. See the results here and here. And this is me, in Cuenca, Ecuador, snapping the winning photo in our second competition!

A relaxing weekend

I finally had a relaxing weekend after what feels like months. No dinner plans at midnight, no family reunions, no commitments... Bliss! And it was sunny too!

I got the pattern and fabric for my first dressmaking project! I love, love, love this fabric and I think it's perfect for a belly dancing costume. I'm going to make the skirt only and if everything goes well, I'd make the top and a veil too. My class is tomorrow and we're going to learn how patterns work... which I'm really intrigued about, as I have no idea what to do with them.

We had friends over for dinner on Saturday. It was fun, it was relaxing and our wine had a yellow label (yes, I chose it for the label). Sorry, not the best photo, I've already had some of the contents when I took it.

And today, it was sunny and warm, so I spent the whole day in the garden, reading the Saturday Guardian (not the news, only The Review and the other supplements) and looking at magazines. We even had a picnic for lunch!

Of course this is only going to make it harder to go to work tomorrow...

Inspired by book covers

More book covers inspiration! Of course, yellow was going to make an appearance on my favourites. You've probably heard of people organizing their bookshelves by colour. As much as I like the idea (colour coordination is VERY important to me!), I could never do it. With the amount of books that I have I could never find anything if they were organized by colour (yes, they are organized by fiction and non ficition, and then by author, since you ask).

More yellow

I absolutely love this look from the J Crew lookbook. The skirt is perfect, even more because it's in the colour of the year. The simple top and cardigan are accessorized with a fantastic stripe belt that makes the whole outfit feel special. And don't you think this room from The Haymarket Firmdale Hotel that I found at El beso is the perfect translation of the look into a room?

More yellow

It seems I'm not the only one who likes yellow. In the last hour only I have seen it in Habitually Chic, The City Sage and in This is love forever. The last two mention Twig Hutchinson, stylist of what it has to be my favourite photo at the moment:

Por si eso no fuera suficiente, los expertos tambien afirman que el amarillo es el color del 2009. La alegría, la vitalidad y el optimismo del amarillo es algo que el mundo necesita ahora mismo, ¿no creeis?

As if that wasn't enough, the experts are also predicting that yellow is THE colour of 2009. The world definitely needs some of the joy, vitality and optimism that yellow brings, don't you think?

Obsessed with yellow

I recently noticed that lots of the photos I was cutting from magazines and from the web had yellow on them. I didn’t realise I liked yellow so much, but now I am obsessed with it. This is a collage I made with some of the photos.
