12 months of being 30

As you all know (because I've been talking about it endlessly!), I turned 30 last month, on 17th June. I do think that turning 30 is an important milestone, and a perfect chance to reevaluate your life, think about what you've done and achieved and how close you are to where you want to be. I was trying to find a way to document my year when I found  365 days of being 30. Erin is doing a piece of art every day during the year she's 30 and posting them here. I've decided to copy get inspiration from her project and start recording my own year of being 30. So, every month, on the 17th, I'll post art journaling pages, writing, photos or whatever reflects what I've been doing and feeling during that month.
In this month's pages I can definitely see a theme of doors opening, and the feeling that I'm walking somewhere, taking small steps towards a better place. My pages are surprisingly calm, which defintely doesn't reflect the month I've had (busy, busy), but maybe the place where I want to get.

PS. I've scheduled this for the 17th, so by the time you read this, I'll be at Latitude Festival! I'll tell you all about it when I come back and I'll try to twitter from there. Check my tweets here!

  3. This is a great idea! It will make you more focussed on the passing time and a year from now you won't have that worrying feeling that the year has somehow disappeared...

  5. What an exciting prospect. 30 was a pretty awful year for me, and it passed in a blur of awful-ness. Though I'm glad to have it behind me, I do sometimes wish I had more of a record, especially of all the good that happened that year too...
You'll be so grateful to make this and to have it!

  7. This is a great idea, and since there's no making me 30 again, I'm already trying to find a way to copy (read: get inspiration from:)) this. I love how your journaling is bilingual, reflecting your roots and not only your current steps. Enjoy the festival, it looks like a very rich event!

  8. I love this idea, B. An automatic monthly prompt ~ and declaring it here will keep you accountable!

When you get older, like me (31), you'll find that all the journaling and artwork you do now will be a fascinating bookmark of your life this year.

  12. Do you know why many women stop counting their birthdays at 30? Or why they just add the years to 30 (I am 30+15)? Because this is truly the beginning of YOUR life. Up until now, parents, teachers, mentors, etc. all helped to shape your life. From 30 on, it is the life that you want, the paths you choose that define who you really are. It is so exciting and I wish you a wonderful journey...

  13. I have to second what Cyndy said. I might even say that the beginning of YOUR life is 40. You have much to look forward to. Perhaps I will copy, I mean, be inspired by you and take a day to reflect monthly throughout my next year.

  17. What a great idea B! Thanks for the inspiration. My birthday is coming up and I may just have to do something like this. Do you find it inspires you to pay more attention to your heart's desires and all of the little things in life? Reminds me of the quote I posted recently about what we focus on is where we go. Can't wait to see more!
